Typography based on molecules

I was fascinated by the technology used to create the head guards. Its structure involves hard and soft segments and looks very molecular. This led me to research molecular typography. 

Understanding Molecular Typography is a book by H.F Henderson. The book explores the chemical and physical structure of letters. 

I was inspired by the break down of letters into segments and also by the diagrams.

Irina Pavlova created this typeface by pressing razor blades into foam. 

The technique is harsh but the result looks delicate and soft.
